Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the wise; seek what they sought.

- Matsuo Bashō

A journey through some of the places I’ve been fortunate enough to not only capture with my camera but to have experienced.

Landscapes…

My first ‘real’ camera was a Ricoh FF-9 that I got sometime in the late 80’s. It was great, sat in my pocket whilst I climbed and explored my way through the English Peak District and Lakeland. It was always ready to capture a snap of friends and I out climbing or the occasional view down a valley.

Unfortunately I don’t have any of those images any more, long consigned to a biscuit tin hidden somewhere in another country.

Landscapes and nature were my first love and I never feel happier than when sat on the side of a mountain somewhere.

Cities…

I’ve been fortunate enough to travel and I still hunger after finding out what is around the next corner.

Cities are great places to experience whole different ways of living. The architecture and geography within them has grown as their populations have grown shaping attitudes and lifestyles for millennia.

Street or not…

Perhaps it’s the voyeur in us all but I too find it fascinating wandering the streets of cities and towns and just watching people go about their daily business.

I find it inherently beautiful capturing a moment frozen in time and my thanks go to the many nameless people that make up the next section. Their stories are their own and for you to ponder.

Nightime…

I have to thank my friend the Mad Squirrel for starting this chapter of my photographic journey. There is something about capturing an image of the night sky that is both complicated but also totally absorbing.

Nature…

A collection of images that is really just about being out there and enjoying the surroundings and things we bump into
